Philips Electronics India is expanding its portfolio of lighting solutions by launching energy-efficient products specifically designed and made in India. The company has introduced LED lamps (light emitting diodes) targeted at the local market for street lighting, offices and retail outlets.
According to industry estimates, lighting consumes close to 17 percent of power in buildings and is the second highest energy offender after heating, cooling and ventilation systems that consume close to 36 percent. LEDs are considered to be the most energy-efficient lighting solutions that help reduce power consumption and CO2 emissions.
