Dynavac, a manufacturer of space simulation and thin film deposition systems, has recently partnered with Matrix Service of Tulsa, Okla., to construct and install the GPS III Thermal Vacuum Test Facility at Lockheed Martin Space Systems Co.’s Waterton site in Littleton, Colo., a business unit of Lockheed Martin Corp., one of the largest U.S. aerospace companies. The Matrix/Dynavac project is valued in excess of $20 million.
Lockheed’s much-anticipated GPS III system, intended for the US Air Force, is slated for launch in 2014. Dynavac will design, procure and fabricate the thermal shroud, vacuum pumping systems, control systems and thermal control units for a thermal vacuum chamber test facility. The project is scheduled to be complete and fully commissioned by November 2011.
