If you target buyers outside North America, you may find recent Forrester research and forecasts regarding worldwide mobile Internet access interesting.
Forrester forecasts that by 2014, 65% of the world’s population will own at least one active mobile phone. And, earlier this year, Mary Meeker of venture capital firm Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers stated that we have globally reached an inflection point in Q4 2010, with the global shipments of smartphones and tablets surpassing the global shipments of desktop and notebook PCs.
With China leading the world’s online population, estimated at 477 million users as of March 2011, it is interesting to see the growth of mobile Internet use in urban China versus other regions. Forrester’s data shows that urban China is a close second to Japan, with 43% of mobile phone users reporting they access the mobile Internet at least monthly.
