A new Swedish data center in the process of being constructed has been modeled to look like a space station from Star Trek.
Designed by John Karlung, the CEO and founder of Swedish ISP and data center operator Bahnhof AB, the new data center features a modular, containerized design and will be constructed of parachute and bullet-proof material.
According to Karlung, each container is capable of holding 35 high-density racks and will support a separate container for cooling on top.
“[Essentially], we vent out the heat by pushing air down in the center of the container. It is free cooling, and can be used anywhere in the world,” said Karlung.
