Graphite mining and exploration company Focus Graphite Inc. has announced a joint venture development agreement on behalf of Grafoid Inc. with CapTherm Systems Inc., a developer of cooling technologies for high-power electronics, to develop and commercialize next-generation, multiphase thermal management systems for electric vehicle (EV) battery and light emitting diode (LED) technologies.
Under the terms of the agreement, Grafoid Inc., a producer of high-energy graphene and a developer of graphene industrial applications, will supply both materials and methods for adapting graphene to CapTherm Systems’ existing EV and LED cooling systems.
“Graphene and its properties as a superconductor will enable CapTherm to position itself well for future thermal challenges,” Timo Minx, CEO and technical director of CapTherm Systems, said. “Making our products even more competitive by taking advantage of graphene’s lateral and vertical heat spreading capabilities is a logical step in advancing our science to meet those future challenges.”
“This alliance represents a milestone for both companies in their pursuit of cutting-edge, energy-saving, green technology graphene applications,” George Economo, Grafoid’s business development manager, said.
