Universal Science, a manufacturer of thermal management materials, has introduced UniPhase 3500, a new phase change material that combines a high level of thermal performance and a thin bond line into an ideal solution for designs where a high degree of heat transfer is required over large surface areas.
According to the company, UniPhase 3500 is a silicone-free material that can be screen-printed directly onto a heatsink, typically in a honeycomb pattern and to a recommended maximum thickness of 0.25 mm. UniPhase 3500 features a thermal conductivity of 3.5 W/mK and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C, making it suitable for use in applications with high ambient temperatures. Unlike thermal grease, UniPhase 3500 is dry when applied, allowing for combined shipping and handling of the heatsink and interface material.
