Solvay Specialty Polymers USA has released Lavanta 5115 WH 011, a high-performance polyester for heat and light stability in LED display screens. According to the polymer company, the new product was created in response to the growing trend among television manufacturers of using fewer LEDs in products to reduce cost.
Lavanta 5115 WH 011 is a 15 percent glass fiber-reinforced injection molding compound designed for LED electronic packaging applications. According to Glen Cupta, global business development manager for electrical/electronics for Solvay Specialty Polymers, Lavanta 5115 WH 011 was developed to meet new strict LED industry requirements that include “higher heat resistance, greater light stability and longer life. Cupta adds that the material provides 95 percent reflectivity with optimized whiteness retention—even after thermal and light aging—and offers dimensional stability due to low moisture absorption.
Solvay Specialty Polymers USA plans to expand the Lavanta product series in the near future with an enhanced version with increased heat and light stability for longer product life and reliability.
