In response to market demand for applications requiring thermal cut-outs with high current capabilities, Selco Products has introduced the SWTC3 Thermal Fuse Series. The SWTC3 features a 20 Amp rating at 120/250VAC and is suited for use in a wide range of applications. Selco’s new SWTC3 and original SWTC (10 Amp continuous duty rated) thermal cutoffs are designed to provide … [Read more...]
Thin Label Material Made of 0.5 Mil Polyimide Film
Polyonics has designed an ultra-thin, white coated, polyimide label material that uses a 0.5 mil film for space constrained electronics. The XF-616 is a high temperature, thermal transfer printable material with an aggressive acrylic adhesive to insure superior bond permanence. This label material is designed to provide a 20% lower profile and survive the harsh environments of … [Read more...]
Carbon-Based Passive Thermal Management Material
Applied Nanotech’s new passive thermal management material, CarbAl™, is a carbon-based material with a unique combination of low density, high thermal diffusivity, and low coefficient of thermal expansion. CarbAl™ has a density of 1.75 g/cm3 compared to 2.7 g/cm3 for aluminum and 8.9 g/cm3 for copper. While copper has a slightly higher thermal conductivity than CarbAl™, 390 … [Read more...]

Researchers Find Spider Silk Conducts Heat as Well as Metals
Xinwei Wang and his research team at Iowa State University found that spider silks - particularly the draglines that anchor webs in place - conduct heat better than most materials, including silicon, aluminum and pure iron. Spider silk also conducts heat 1,000 times better than woven silkworm silk and 800 times better than other organic tissues. Spider silk conducts heat at … [Read more...]
